The Apex driving School Mission
In two words, saving lives!
Motor vehicle travel is the primary means of
transportation in
the United States, proving an unprecedented degree of mobility. Yet for all
its advantages,
deaths and injuries resulting from motor vehicle crashes are the leading
cause of death for
persons of every age from 6 to 27 years old (based on 1994 data). Traffic
fatalities
account for more than 90 percent of transportation-related fatalities. In
1997, 41,967
people were killed in the estimated 6.8 million police-reported motor
vehicle traffic
crashes, nearly 3.4 million people were injured. At this rate 1997, one
person died every
13 minutes twenty-four hours a day for 365 days. That would be equivalent
to
a 747
jumbo jet carrying the maximum number of passengers crashing every single
day with no
survivors. Although motor vehicle related crashes are caused by various
circumstances, by
far the leading cause (roughly 83%) is due to a human error. Human errors
are an
unfortunate by-product of poor or insufficient training. A well trained
driver has a greater
understanding and appreciation for his/her ability to respond to the
traffic
conditions.
Moreover, a skillful driver is always conscious of the vehicle’s physical
limits.
